This quick read introduces the new Police Chief Rodolphe Dumas, a transplant from New Orleans. He may have a slow drawl, but that is the only thing slow about him. He tackles multiple mysteries to clean up his town all the while chasing BigFoot sightings. ( Reviewed in the United States on January 2, 2021 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Kindle buyer -- A great short story! : I am a fan and The Right Motive did not disappoint me, except on the (very short) length of the story. I would hope there is more to Rockin, Alaska and those who were part of this novella, where the imagination mixes with reality and where what might seem absurd is not. And it all comes together, with a splash of humor although maybe a little skewed. I would like to read more about Police Chief Dumas, a transplant from Louisiana; Officer Donatti whose mysterious local family connection is finally revealed, and a few others with small parts in this plot. As usual, she does a great job introducing this new location and a host of characters in a novella format which is sure to whet your appetite to follow this new suspense series. The first chapter alone has not 1 but 2 Bigfoot sightings, 3 bears and an ongoing case of police corruption. I am looking forward to what Police Chief Rodolphe Dumas and Officer Gabariella Donatti get into in future Dodd novels. Very Enjoyable. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 6, 2020 )
- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Pennie Morgan -- Right Motive : This one was just pure fun and a great way to give us a look at Rockin, Alaska. We are introduced to the new Police Chief, Dumas, who was brought in to clean up the force after the previous chief and the corruption and has already fired a couple officers and knows more are to follow. After two big foot sightings are reported on the same morning he decides to take a hands on approach and goes on a call with Officer Donatti which turns out to be not only enlightening but eye opening. Rockin Alaska is introduced in this book as the setting for her new series. Come in and meet the police chief and his new officer as they clean up corruption. An unexpected twist is revealed on the Bigfoot initiation call. Looking forward to learning more about this town and their police force as they tackle new challenges. The characters, the storyline are wonderful and I cannot wait the novel with Rockin Alaska in it and I hope we will see a lot more of these characters in that book! Alaska, Big Foot, a Cajun sheriff, attractive female deputy with a mother who reads the future are only a few of the highlights I found in this book. Short read and a great ending. Loved it.
